Designed for responsible citizens\, this program develops the knowledge\, practical skills\, and mindset needed to safely carry a firearm for personal protection. \nThrough classroom instruction\, live-fire exercises\, and real-world defensive scenarios\, you’ll learn how to make sound decisions\, improve your shooting performance\, understand Virginia’s use-of-force laws\, and carry with confidence—not hesitation \nWHO THIS COURSE IS FOR\nThis course is ideal for individuals who: \n\nWant to carry a firearm responsibly.\nAre considering concealed carry.\nRecently obtained their Concealed Handgun Permit.\nHave completed a basic handgun course and want to continue developing.\nWant practical defensive handgun training.\nDesire greater confidence carrying every day.\nWant to better understand Virginia’s self-defense laws.\nAre committed to becoming safer and more capable firearm owners.\n\n**No ego. \nCOURSE DETAILS\nSkill Level: Beginner to Intermediate \nPrerequisite: Basic handgun experience *recommended\, BUT NOT NECESSARY. \nDuration: 8 Hours \nTraining Environment: Classroom & Live Fire \nREQUIRED EQUIPMENT\nStudents should bring: \n\nReliable handgun (semi-automatic pistol or revolver)\nMinimum of 2 magazines (3 recommended)\nQuality concealed carry holster\n(No SERPA or drop-leg holsters permitted.)\nMagazine pouch (recommended)\nSturdy gun belt\nConcealment garment (shirt\, jacket\, sweatshirt\, or vest)\nEye protection\nHearing protection\nBaseball cap (recommended)\n250 rounds of factory ammunition 9mm FMJ (*not included)\nWater\nLunch\nNotebook and pen\nWeather-appropriate clothing\nClosed-toe shoes\n\n  \nFREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS\nDo I need a Concealed Handgun Permit? \nNo. This course prepares you to carry responsibly whether you currently have your permit or plan to obtain one. You must be 21 years old at the time of your submission of your paperwork to the state. You can take the class within 1-year from your birthday if desiring a CCW Permit. \n\nCan I take this class with limited experience? \nYes.Students should understand basic firearm safety and operation. If you’re brand new to firearms\, we recommend completing Defender Ready or Ladies First – The Women’s Handgun Experience first. \n\nIs this a permit class? \nYes. \n\nWhat if I don’t own all the required equipment? \nContact Bear Arms Training before class.
